As far as the idea of separation from God goes, because your idea is not of God, He does not respond to it. To respond to it would be to give it reality. If God himself were to acknowledge anything except the idea of perfect oneness, there would no longer be perfect oneness. There would no longer be a perfect state of Heaven for you to return to. The simplicity of seeing the universe as a dream, and forgiving the images your body's eyes are apparently showing you, is well summed up in one of the Workbook's explanations of forgiveness, "Forgiveness recognizes what you thought your brother did to you has not occurred. Being in the now does not heal your unconscious guilt and undo the ego. Heaven is real oneness, unlike the idea of being one with the universe, or even one with the mind that is outside of time and space that made the universe. Forgiveness doesn't mean you have to give up anything on the level of form. Your psychological attachment to things (and to people and circumstances) is one of the ways your ego clings to the body and the world. That will need to be forgiven.
