Comment by Jill McCullough on July 10, 2012 at 9:35pm Micah, you brought up some really good observations and questions. I have been reading the book and doing the workbook for years and for me, it has felt like with continued practice, the layers of understanding deepen. Starting from a place of "I don't feel this now," is an authentic place to be at. Accept and be at peace with that and know you are exactly where you should be in that moment. Continue to do the lessons of the workbook as instructed and as you feel guided to do, and your understanding and feeling of that Love will continue to develop and evolve. There were many times for me that I didn't feel any of that love either, and that is where faith comes in. The Course says that love is inherent within us, and as we unlearn the ways of the ego, we remember more and more of that loving self that is one with God. One of my favorite ACIM quotes is something like, "you don't ever have to worry about your readiness, as long as you have a consistent faith in mine". Maintain that faith in your inner guide, and trust that your awareness of the Love within you and around you will grow. Peace and blessings to you!!!!
Comment by Micah Christian on July 10, 2012 at 11:47am Do you guys ever read some of these lessons and find it hard to identify with the language that the workbook is using. Today I am reading:
Father, You stand before me and behind, beside me, in the place I see myself, and everywhere I go, You are in all the things I look upon, the sounds I hear, and every hand that reaches for my own. In You time disappears, and place becomes a meaningless belief."
It is very beautiful language to me and I want to be able to know this passage in some experiential way, to feel it, to wrap my mind around it and know it, but honestly I think that I only imagine that I know what this is saying. I don't think that I really sense LOVE being all around me and in me as a fish would experience itself in the sea of water that it lives in.
Is this a knowing that will come to me, is it beyond my senses altogether? Is it meaningful to even wonder thoughts like, "what does Love feel like when Love surrounds you like an ocean or the air we breath?"
Should I be experiencing this Love in some mystical though tangible way or is the passage merely describing a fact that I have no way of perceiving, information about a reality that I must just accept by faith even though I can not feel IT surrounding me.
I also wonder, is it just that I have not yet developed the "awareness" that it takes to fully appreciate what this lesson is talking about.
I am just wondering. This is my first time reading the book.

Comment by Joe Wolfe on July 9, 2012 at 5:57pm Seeing 'everyone' as an aspect of "I"
The genuine "I" is that essence of pure Spirit. The Higher Self...that One Who has always been 'here' and always will. That "I" is obscured from real vision by distraction. Distraction first by an identity mistake, facilitated by the belief in the body and all of its properties. Distracted further by a collective belief that we are separated entities.
But with a continued practice of authentic Forgiveness, the thick crust of ego (false personality) begins to crumble. A good practice I learned many years ago was to greet everyone you meet, whether you know them or not,...business contacts, people passing on the street,... everyone with a smile and 'knowingness' that This is an aspect of mySelf...and with the smile a silent acknowlegement that I Love You.
Spirit hears even if they don't and walls of separation also crumble. :-)
Comment by Jill McCullough on July 9, 2012 at 3:48pm Again, I agree with you all that having this sense of fellowship/ sister/brotherhood here is truly a miracle and a blessing. I have studied the Course on my own for a long time, and in the past year or so I have finally started to connect with others who are also studying it, and it has literally catapulted my learning in such a positive way. I learn so much from others, and by sharing my experiences with others who are on similar paths.
Today my Course lesson is 105, and the prayer is "my brother, peace and joy I offer you, That I may have God's peace and joy as mine." Corinne, you mentioned you are also working on forgiveness with someone who represents your greatest teacher. For me, that person is my mother. She and I don't even have a relationship right now, but every day, all day, she is the #1 person on my mind and the person who is providing me with a wealth of learning opportunities as I learn to forgive her, release her, and bless her. This lesson today (105) has been very powerful as I spend my five minutes of meditation each hour holding her in the beauty of that prayer, and seeing her surrounded with the same peace, love, and joy, that I would wish for myself. Though I know I have a couple decades worth of anger and resentment that is blocking me from experiencing peace, there have been several moments today where I could feel that wall chipping away piece by piece as I imagined my mother surrounded in love.
The Course is subtle in that the moment-by-moment shifts that occur as a result of practicing its principles don't usually have a dramatic, movie-like result. But it is in moments like the ones I am experiencing today that leave me with no doubt how powerful the Course's teachings are; and how infinitely wise.
Comment by Onenessnow Astruth on July 7, 2012 at 9:01pm Thanks all for your comments and love. I am so excited to have found others that are on this path as well and who I can talk to about what I am experiencing and thinking and feeling. I find it very difficult to talk to others in the dream world about these things even when I try most are confused about what I am saying and look at me like I have two heads. It is extremely depressing to me I am so grateful for the course and to all of you for your suggestions for prayers, helpful comments and love, many blessings

Can we ask for more? Or any less? So perfect-
I love this place, and all of you. I mean it :)

Comment by Danielle Boonstra on July 6, 2012 at 9:55am I love reading the experiences of everyone here ♥
Today my lesson is 189 and this prayer brought me a semblance of peace when I was feeling tight, angry and resentful:
Father, we do not know the way to You. But we have called, and You have answered us. We will not interfere. Salvation's ways are not our own, for they belong to You. And it is unto You we look for them. Our hands are open to receive Your gifts. We have no thoughts we think apart from You, and cherish no beliefs of what we are, or Who created us. Yours is the way that we would find and follow. And we ask but that Your Will, which is our own as well, be done in us and in the world, that it become a part of Heaven now. Amen.
<sigh> I feel better already...
