Well, I actually took the time to read the book completely yesterday. Can't say it changed my take on it though. And yes, the Doc's work and ACIM are quite compatible, at least in this view. We are reading Letting Go in one of our local Hawkins groups currently. It is highly accessible and seemingly transformative. It highlights so many areas that are often conveniently hidden out of conscious recall, with compassion and no judgment. Seems just the identification of them facilitates the letting go. Have fun with it!

I agree. A quote came to mind - Doc saying that our lives are determined more by the "pull" of the future than the "push" from the past. In the Manual I recall "Forget not once this journey is begun the end is certain" - and - "..of myself I can do nothing..." so it does come down to surrender in the end. In this regard I'm due to start Letting Go soon.

Hi Mike.

Have only read short excerpts of this book. What I did read had quite a few volitional assumptions inserted by the author, seemingly in conflict with the "electro-magnetic" pull of the Infinite attractive power the the Doc actually asserts in his works. At some point in the "journey without distance" the idea of a 'personal' self, along with its perceived 'personal volition' disappears as another illusion. At least that is how the Doc's work is interpreted here. However, cannot fault the author if he has not yet realized that understanding. Glad you enjoyed it.

Just finished reading "Doctor of Truth" by Scott Jeffrey. Not a perfect biography but something I found a very good read and can recommend for those interested in Dr Hawkins life story and the development of his spirituality. I particularly found the story of his struggles with his health problems and unending search for solutions to end suffering interesting. It was inspiring to read of how many obstacles he managed to overcome.

One of my greatest teachers and avid advocator of A Course in Miracles layed his body down last month. He left a treasure house of authentic teachings that will forever leave a bold earmark on the journal of things remembered:

"Revelations occur when the obstacles standing in its way are removed. These obstacles fall of their own accord when their underpinnings are taken away. Such an underpinning is the concept of 'cause.' Why this realization is so important can be grasped when we see that the belief in cause is a major support of the illusion that one is a separte self, self-existant and independant self...or ego." Thank you Joe Wolfe for sending out that message about Dr. Hawkins transition. In moderating 4 FB groups, the posting in this forum was missed.
His legacy of work is profound and complete. Am eagerly awaiting the pending release of his last book, Letting Go: The Pathway of Surrender.

Thank you again.
